I love the older/vintage tools. I believe they are made better than MOST of today's tools. There are some which are better than others. Picked this up for $15 from an old auto mechanic. It was missing the left guard and cover, the right cover, and tool rests. It looked pretty awful, but ran very quietly and smoothly. I disassembled, cleaned, replace the bearings, reassembled, primed, and painted. I had a heck of a time removing and reinstalling the bearing retaining sleeves.

First, I picked up, for a sweet price, a vintage Baldor and pedestal from the early 70's. It has those expensive light shields (expensive on ebay, anyways) on them.

A buddy gave me an old Baldor grinder. Old is likely an understatement, as this grinder has a "square" stator with the laminations visible, and Baldor's address is in St. Louis, Missouri. The general data on the nameplate is 1 1/2 HP, 1725 rpm, and 3 phase. The grinder is old enough that it has screw type grease cups on the motor shaft bearings.
