Emil Billeb was the last superintendent of the narrow-gauge railroad which transported wood to Bodie from the Mono Mills lumber mill. He arrived in Bodie in 1908, and a few years later married Jessie Delilah (Dolly) Cain, who was the daughter of J.S Cain, a pioneer resident and eventual owner of most of the property in Bodie.

The Bodie ghost town is really interesting. You get a glossy guide with your entrance fee that includes a self guided walking tour. There are parts you can't go in without a guide so plan ahead if you want to see the Standard Mill. We spent over an hour wandering round using the guide book for information and that was enough.
