A mill test report (MTR) is a document that shows material origin and composition, as well as material testing results. An MTR is a quality assurance document that tells engineers the exact makeup and performance of the material. MTRs are often provided with every steel material purchase. If not initially provided, an MTR can always be requested.
I have audited ~ 10 steel mills in the North America, and also worked at one mini-mill earlier in my career. Certification for carbon and alloy steels is performed according to ASTM E415 (Atomic emission spectroscopy or OES) and E1019 (combustion for C, S, On, N). This is the standard for automotive and general industrial customers.

When hot rolling steel in the laboratory, using relatively small rolling mills, values of 4–20 kW/m 2 K appear to be the correct magnitudes. If modelling hot rolling of steel under industrial conditions, values of 50–120 kW/m 2 K are more useful. In both cases, the layer of scale is an important parameter.
