Hoisting the mill with a sling is the recommended method in the manual. I accomplished this with my shop crane.. luckily I had one. Grizzly has had some motor and controller issues arise after the July 2010 shipments of the G0704. A handful of Cnczone members have reported that their motors and/or controllers have burnt, smoked or overheated over the past several months, some almost out of the box. Grizzly replaced any bad motors or controllers since they are under warranty.
I went to Grizzly and looked close at their mini mills, then came home and order the LMS mill. Grizzly is pretty good stuff, but I feel the LMS is a little better quality. Had mine a couple years now and it does all this knife maker needs to do.
I like to get a bench top mill this coming spring and contemplating between the Grizzly G 0704 mill or the Precision Matthews PM-25MV mill. I would appreciate any positive or negative thoughts about these two mills by the members of this great Forum.

That's like 25% of the price. Both have pretty good documentation, but it seems like the G0704 is the most documented of all of them. I looked at/considered the HF 44991 mill, but I don't like the tilt column idea and it's about 40% smaller in Y axis vs. the Grizzly. It is about half the cost though.

I can use a 2" face mill very effectively in steel, roughing at 0.050" DOC at 1500RPM taking about 1.5" per pass on material wider than the cutter, at ~10IPM. With a 3/8" or 1/2" carbide end mill at 3000rpm I can take 1/2" deep x 0.100" per pass at 15-18IPM (max hand cranking speed), climb or conventional.
