G8689 Belt Drive Conversion. Today (5/25/13) I installed a belt drive conversion from Little Machine Shop on my G8689 mill. The advantages to the belt drive are: No more worrying about the plastic drive gears breaking. This is a common problem with the Sieg X2 mini mills. It is a lot quieter now, and runs much more smoothly, with less vibration.
This Mid drive motor kit is compatible with fat-bikes, mountain bikes,road bikes etc. This kit allows you to easily convert your pedal bike into a motorized bike within 1 hour. The motor is quit and powerful. The 750W is a brushless gear motor and torgue of 160N.M make it great for speed and climbing.

Belt drive upgrade for my Sieg X1 micro mill. Runs much quieter than the stock gearbox! Looks better too! Maximum measured spindle speed is ~2850, ~1750, and ~950 RPM respectively. Will definitely help with the smaller drills and endmills (smallest endmill I have is a 2-flute 3/32″)

Used it for about 3-4 hours and heard a grumbly noise. I was drilling 1/2" holes in aluminum. I switched to low gear and the grumbly noise went away.
