Bostar AXA QCTP (Quick Change Tool Post) {Nov. 16, 2015] I purchased this QCTP for my 9x20 lathe from Ebay for $135 (Oct. 2015). Note that this is a piston type QCTP; there is also an almost identical wedge type, so if you are purchasing be sure to get the model you prefer. They have converted them to CNC and done some pretty outragous mods to them for accuracy and longevity. If it is priced right and has any tooling your good. Be prepared for a shock when you start buying tooling.

The cuts for the expanding segments were done with the angle grinder which is why they are skewed. The keyway was cut by holding the mandrel end somewhat insecurely in a tool holder but it worked. This same expanding mandrel also hold the manual handle when I want to go really slow like when threading up to a shoulder.

One complaint would be the tool post clamp needs to be beefed up. This was the first mod I did. And yes it did take some adjusting but not as much as my 7x. I would have to give my 9x a thumbs up. hi joe I'm not sure if it will fit your lathe but here is what i use on my 9x20 it is the harbor freight saw blade sharpening grinder, i drilled a hole in the original base and it bolts down to the cross slide. it is not the perfect height but i grind then measure to make sure anyway. it has no endplay or chatter, the motor is pretty powerful. the wheels are cheap and it comes with a …

I seem to make mistakes like this regularly. It's not senility, it's been like this for my entire life. ARGH!
